The fans of FC Utrecht and Feyenoord immediately fell in love with the hard working mentality of Dirk Kuyt and also Rafael Benitez, manager at Liverpool, is a big fan of Mr Duracell.
As a forward at Utrecht, Kuyt saved his highlight at the club for his last game: the cup final against his new club Feyenoord. In Rotterdam FC Utrecht trashed Feyenoord 4-1. Kuyt was outstanding and scored the final goal of the match.
Together with rising star Salomon Kalou , Kuyt was a sensation at Feyenoord. When Liverpool signed him in the summer of 2006, Kuyt had scored an incredible 71 goals in 101 league matches. The love between Kuyt and Feyenoord is an eternal one.
Liverpool proved to be a much bigger challenge than the Dutch Eredivisie, but Kuyt also conquered the hearts of the people at the Kop. The forward, who often plays on the right wing, is loved by the people and manager Benitez because of his incredible work rate. In 2007, Kuyt scored in the Champions League final against AC Milan, but the Italian side won 2-1.
Powerhouse Kuyt became a regular player in the Dutch national squad after Euro 2004 and has hardly missed a game since that moment.
