Vangelos Moras, Bologna (Bolognafc.it)

A late bloomer, it wasn't until Moras moved abroad with Italy's Bologna that his career finally took-off. A bright start to his career with Larissa and then Proodeftiki ultimately earned the latter promotion to the Greek top flight, and Moras a deal with AEK Athens. He stayed in Athens and established himself as a reliable centre-back for the club. His gaffe in the 2007 Greek Cup Final reportedly cost him a contract renewal at the OAKA Spyros Louis Stadium, and prompted the switch to Bologna.

Moras' success in Italy ultimately warranted in his first call-up to the senior squad early last year. After impressing in a friendly against Denmark, Moras' dedication to defending impressed to a level that prompted call-ups in Greece’s remaining qualifiers. His ability to perform consistently for the squad during a tricky campaign earned him several starts near the tail-end of the campaign as Rehhagel opted to employ three centre-backs. It will be Moras' work ethic that earns him a spot on Otto Rehhagel's roster for the final tournament and a chance to compete with Avraam Papadopoulos and Sokratis Papastathopoulos for a spot in the starting line-up.

Did You Know?

Moras' first competitive experience with the Greek national team in a major football tournament actually came with the squad that competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
