Alexandros Tziolis A decorated ‘keeper in the lower lights of Greek football, Tzorvas took the Greek Super League by storm with a solid season of football at OFI Crete before transferring to Panathinaikos a year later.
His performances with the Athenian side resulted in success during the 2009-10 season as Panathinaikos won the league. His play has also earned individual achievements, including his emergence with the national team since his debut in a friendly against Italy in 2008.
A position dominated by eras, Tzorvas’ chances of becoming a starting ‘keeper only brightened with the international retirement of Antonis Nikopolidis. Coincidentally, Tzorvas’ rise to form came at the same time.
With Kostas Chalkias and Michalis Sifakis failing to make their mark on the starting job between the posts, Tzorvas has played a leading role in the Greece goal.
Managing to capture the starting role at Panathinaikos ahead of Mario Galinovic, Tzorvas’ athleticism and maturity as shot-stopper has given him a strong chance of being Greece’s starting shot stopper this summer.
Did You Know?
Tzorvas has been a Panathinaikos fan since his days as a youth, and even has the Panathinaikos emblem, a clover, tattooed on his leg.
