Malouda has had the best year of his career in 2009-10. He could be the X-Factor for France during the World Cup.

Born in Guyana 30 years ago, Malouda is now an experienced player and Chelsea has benefited from his superb form. During an interview after the 2008 European Championship he said coach Domenechasked him to play very defensively. The French press are often critical of "attacking" midfielders who defend more than often than they attack. But Malouda asked to play further forward and finally managed to return to the national team after several good displays in the English Premier League.

Left-footed, a rare attribute in the French team, with physical strength, Malouda has the capacity to defend and move quickly on the counter to cause problems for the opposition. He has shown in England that he can also provide assists. He was recently named the Player of the Month for March in England.
