Zulu is heading to Bidvest Wits not Kaizer Chiefs, says Maritzburg United chairman

The Team of Choice are now hoping to sell the 24-year-old player during the current Transfer Window

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia believes that unsettled player Philani Zulu is set to join Bidvest Wits, not Kaizer Chiefs.

The defender-come-midfielder has been heavily linked with Gauteng clubs since refusing to sign a new Maritzburg contract last October.

Kadodia has since revealed that the left-footed player is destined to join the Clever Boys when his current deal expires in just over five months' time.

“That is what I heard – that he is wanted by Chiefs. But my gut feeling is that he could be heading to Bidvest Wits. The Chiefs story is nothing but a rumour,” Kadodia told Daily Sun.

The Team of Choice boss went on to disclose that Zulu will not be training with the first team because his heart is no longer in their team.

“But he won’t be training with the first team. His heart is no longer in our team. He will remain in the structures of the team until his contract expires in June.

“We will see where we put him. But I believe he will get a team in this transfer window," he added.

"Most players usually make their moves either on the second-last day or a few hours before the transfer window closes."

Zulu was born in Pietermaritzburg and he also turned out for Maritzburg's provincial rivals, Royal Eagles, who campaign in the National First Division (NFD).
