Kenyan Internationals, David Owino and Jesse Were both converted their respective penalties, but their efforts were not enough to see Zesco United sail past Napsa Stars in the Barclays Cup.

Zesco United will not defend their Barclays Cup title after losing 4-2 on post-match penalties to Napsa Stars following a 0-0 draw at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The Harambee Stars assistant captain, Owino and Were successfully converted their chances but Fackson Kapumbu and Maybin Kalengo skied their spot kicks in Zesco United lose.

Dickson Chapa converted the last chance to hand Napsa Stars their maiden Barclays Cup finals appearance since 2012.

The defeat sees Zesco United; the record winners, miss out on a great opportunity to clinch an unprecedented sixth Barclays Cup title.

Team ya Zega will now turn their attention to the Zambian league title with less than nine matches left in a tight dash for the crown.
