Zambian youngster Banda makes Oostende league debut

The 19-year-old starlet made a losing bow for De Kustboys in the Belgian top tier on Sunday

Zambia’s U-20 World Cup star Emmanuel Banda made his First Division A debut for Belgian side KV Oostende on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was brought on for the final 15 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Royal Excel Mouscron at the Versluys Arena.

This was the midfielder's second appearance for the side having made his official debut in the 4-2 loss to Marseille in the Europa League last midweek.

Banda penned a three-year contract with the Pro League side from Sporting Esmoriz in Portugal in June this year.

The youngster’s inspiring performances helped Zambia claim the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title before making the world aware of his attributes with eye-catching performances as he helped Zambia reach the quarterfinals of the U-20 World Cup World Cup in May. Where he also made five appearances and scored two goals, including one against Germany in the Round of 16 as Junior Chipolopolo eliminated Die Mannschaft from the competition.

Banda featured in De Kustboys’ loss alongside neighbour Knowledge Musona of Zimbabwe, Nigerian attacker Joseph Akpala and Cameroon’s Nations Cup star Sebastian Siani who was sent off.
