Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane admitted earlier this year that he would like to sign Manyama.
However, the Cape Town-based club recently issued a statement calling Mosimane to order, telling him to follow the proper channels if he wants any of their players, including Manyama and Aubrey Ngoma.
“He is a very talented player, but I don’t think that Cape Town City is prepared to let him go. Maybe Kaizer Chiefs can afford him, but I think the only team that can afford him with eyes closed is Mamelodi Sundowns because I know that they also want him,” Williams told Goal.
The Alexandra-born attacker is currently the league’s leading goalscorer with 13 strikes, and Williams says he will be watching the situation with a lot of interest.
“If it has to go to a race, Manyama would go to Sundowns because the money is there. He is not a youngster anymore to say he can go to Chiefs because it’s a big team,” Williams said.
“You want him to go to a big team and also win some cups and get some money as well. Sundowns is the only big team that can basically afford him and pay for players in the region of R7 million and upwards. So, it’s going to be interesting if Cape Town City decides to let him go,” Williams added.
