Why Tusker started pre-season friendlies with minnows

The Brewers played Palos and Muhoroni Youth on Wednesday and Thursday respectively

KPL champions Tusker will represent the country in 2017 Caf Champions League tournament and they have started their preparations for the same.

However, many fans expected the Brewers to choose big clubs in Kenya and across the borders for build-up matches, only to see the club plays National Super League side Palos FC in their first test.

New signing off the mark as Tusker beat Palos

They then proceeded to play against Muhoroni Youth in their second match and when Goal sought for comment from the club’s CEO Charles Obiny on their preparations ahead of the continental competition, he explained that they were to play a team from Uganda but things did not work as planned.

“We had planned to play against Ugandan Premier League side Vipers FC in Kisumu but they failed us at the last minute. That’s why we quickly decided to play against the local teams, which I also believe can help our coaches identify weakness and strengths.”

FKF, KPL agree on 18-team league

They beat Palos 4-2 on Wednesday then beat Muhoroni Youth 1-0 with Noah Wafula being on target on Thursday. They will play against lower league side Vihiga United before returning to Nairobi.
