Kasaya was benched for Levis Opiyo at restart of second half of their 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium

Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi has explained why keeper Wycliffe Kasaya was substitued on Saturday.

Kasaya was benched for Levis Opiyo at the restart of second half of their 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium. Coach Kimanzi has now revealed that Kasaya was withdrawn because he was not playing according to instructions. “Kasaya was not playing according to instructions.

"He gave AFC Leopards confidence to press us and they made us play under pressure in the first half. When we introduced (Levis) Opiyo they could not cope with us in the second half because we were comfortable in possession," Kimanzi told the club's official website.

Kimanzi admitted that they were the better side against Ingwe and deserved more than a point from the fixture. “A point is a plus for us after struggling for five matches. We have been dropping three points but today we managed to put that to an end. It was a brilliant day for us because we played very well.

"It could have been better if we got three points."

Mathare United will face promoted side Zoo Kericho in their league assignment on July 2.
