AFC Leopards are the biggest losers in the just-released Kenyan Premier League Awards nomination list with not a single player from the club making it to the coveted list.
None of Ingwe’s player attracted the attention of the 18-KPL coaches and captains who came up with the list on Thursday, begging the question whether there is any shred of hope in the Robert Matano’s squad ahead of the new season.
The black-tie gala is set for January 12 and AFC Leopards will have to please the gods of the jungle to come top of Sofapaka, Western Stima, Kakamega Homeboyz and Nzoia Sugar in the club's single entry for the Fairplay Club of the year category.
After wading through the rough waters of the 2017 season that saw them finish a distant eighth on the log, the sleeping giants of Kenyan football clearly begun the year on a wrong foot,;maybe a clear sign of what awaits in the coming season. The hunting is going to be tough once more.
With just a single mark of Leopards spots in the list, Gor Mahia, with seven nominations, once again scored an 'A' over their arch-rivals.
Of more interest is the fact that KPL debutants Kariobangi Sharks and Zoo Kericho had five entries each as the aging Leopards wags its tail at the bottom.
