Harambee Stars striker Jesse Were scored his second goal in two matches for  Zesco United in a 1-1 draw against Buildcon FC in a league match played Tuesday.

Were, who also found the back of the net away in Egypt during Caf Confederation Cup fixture against Smouha over the weekend, netted Zesco’s opener before his effort was cancelled out by Chavda Maisha in the 55th minute. Were had put Zesco ahead with just two minutes to the break but the Congolese was called to action when he dropped in a cool header to level the scores just 12 minutes after Zesco United had taken the lead.

All the three Kenya internationals, who turn out for Zesco United, Jesse Were , David Owino and Anthony Akumu were involved in the match that was pushed back to Tuesday to give the Team Ya Ziko  time to honour their continental fixture.

Akumu was introduced in the second half after Kondwani Mtonga suffered an injury setback and could not continue. The draw left Zesco sitting sixth on the log with 22 points, six less than leaders NAPSA Stars while Buildcon, home to two Kenyan stars, Clifton Miheso and John Makwata are 13th with 18 points.
