Jesse Were provided an assist of Zesco United’s only goal against Lumwana Radiants that pushed them second in the Zambian Super Division.

The Kenyan International scored his eighth league goal last weekend and was on it again, this time with an assist to Maybin Kalengo who fired in the winner in the 88th minute off a pass from the left flank from Were.

Kalengo scored his debut goal for the five-time champions in this rescheduled Week 9 patch played at Lumwana Grounds.

The Match also saw Uganda striker Davies Kasirye make his Zesco United debut before he was substituted in the 55th minute.

Zesco who have three games in hand are now two points behind leaders Napsa Stars on 35 points from 17 games played.

Zesco United, also home to Harambee Stars duo of Anthony Akumau and David Owino, hosts Nakambala Leopards this Sunday in a Week 22 match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
