The youngster says his side's resilience and fighting spirit helped them overcome their opponents from Government Secondary School, Jalingo

Following his side narrow win over Government Secondary School, Gombe, Elisha Peter believe the hard-fighting spirit of Government Secondary School, Taraba gave them victory.

Abbas Danjuma's goal was all the Jalingo boys required to keep their qualification dreams alive at the expense of their opponents from Borno at Government Technical College field.

And Peter is confident their quality and character can push through to the national finals with the victory against Adamawa and Yobe respectively.

"I really can't express my joy enough for our victory against Gombe," Peter told Goal.

"When we started in the first half, we didn't understand ourselves in the first game. But in the second half, we recovered well and did better to win.

"They are a good side but I'm so happy we defeated them through our determination, confident as a team. We never gave up and fought hard together to win.

"We want to win all our games because we have the stamina, ability and great winning spirit to beat any team. All we want is to qualify for Lagos."

The forward was converted to playing in the defense against the Gombe boys and he craves to shine defensively as Barcelona's Javier Mascherano and Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata in the attack.

"As a defender, I always love to play like Mascherano, while as an attacker, I love to play like Morata. They are favorite players."
