Wikki Tourist coach Bala Nikyu says his side's defensive strategy helped them secure a goalless draw against Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi.

Having gone 12 games without a point on the road, the Bauchi Elephants forced the Anambra Warriors to a draw and picked their first away point of the season.

“We are happy for the outcome of the game and getting our first away point," Nikyu told Goal.

“Though the home team was desperate to win we managed to stop them despite we also had our scoring chances which we could not convert. I think that how the game was destined to win.

“Well before we arrive in Nnewi, I heard from fillers that most of their goals come from penalties and at such that we planned to curtail them from coming into our goal area.

“I'm happy we were able to stop them from scoring and we got our first draw away from home. It is important for us and a great beginning too.

“From the game, Ifeanyi Ubah is not a bad side and they are a team any other side coming to play them must be wary of because they played well.

“The game was fair and on the side of the referee there was a great balance, unbiased and fair officiating because whoever had won the game would have really deserved it.”

After the win, the former Katsina United coach, assures that they will not rest on their oars as they target to claim maximum points in upcoming games.
