Wayne Rooney will put on the iconic jersey number 10 when Everton takes on Gor Mahia in a friendly on Thursday.

The former Manchester United striker, who joined the Toffee last week, was handed his traditional number in his second return to his boyhood club. Rooney had previously donned jersey number 18 in his first stint at Everton but before switching to jersey number 8 in his first three seasons at Manchester United.

He would later be handed the iconic number 10 by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2007/08 season at Manchester United. At Everton, jersey number 10 was previously worn by Belgian, Romelu Lukaku, who has since switched to Manchester United.

Some of the best players in the game like Diego Maradona, Pele and Ronaldinho have worn the iconic number.
