Bruce Arena's U.S. national team didn't take long to get back on track in World Cup qualifying.
Clint Dempsey recorded a hat trick and Christian Pulisic played a part in five strikes as the U.S. rolled to a 6-0 dismantling of Honduras on Friday in San Jose, California.
Lletget opened the scoring in the fifth minute. The LA Galaxy midfielder tapped home at the far post after a deflected shot from Christian Pulisic, who created the opportunity with an incisive run to connect with a Jozy Altidore chip.
Bradley doubled the lead in the 27th minute, gliding across the top of the penalty area before firing a low, left-footed shot.
Dempsey made it 3-0 five minutes later, running onto a Pulisic chip before emphatically launching a volley into the top corner.
Pulisic got his name on the score sheet mere seconds after halftime, slotting past Donis Escober after a clever Altidore feed.
The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund playmaker turned provider again three minutes later, threading the needle to set up another Dempsey strike.
And Dempsey completed his hat trick in the 54th minute, curling home a free kick that Pulisic drew just outside the penalty area.
