And the 18-year-old American attacker delivered in the early going, scoring in the 12th minute of the contest to give Dortmund the early lead.

Pulisic delivered an excellent solo effort on the play as he caught Bayern’s Javi Martinez in possession, taking the ball off him. Then he went in on goal alone and beat Bayern keeper Sven Ulreich far post.

Unfortunately for the U.S. international and Dortmund, Bayern twice fought back from deficits and won the Super Cup on penalties.

How will VAR work in MLS?

Pulisic will look to build on a breakthrough campaign for Dortmund last year that saw the 18-year-old score four goals and add eight assists across the Bundesliga and Champions League play. Dortmund kicks off their Bundesliga campaign against Wolfsburg on August 19.
