Veteran Monterrey defender Walter Ayovi earned himself a straight red card for a reckless, if slightly unlucky, high-studded challenge on Cruz Azul’s Jorge Benitez during their Liga-MX clash.

The 37-year-old Ecuadorian didn’t see his opponent as he turned around with his leg held high, and ended up hitting Benitez square in the stomach.

The attacker stayed on the ground for a few minutes after the coming together but was then able to continue the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
