Wakaso joins Granada on loan

Spanish side Granada have acquired Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy, the club have confirmed.

The Black Star joined the Nazaríes from Greek side Panathinaikos on deadline day of Tuesday.

"Central midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has joined on loan from Greek side Panathinaikos until June 2017, with Granada CF reserving an option to buy at the end of the season," the club announced on their official website.

"The Ghanaian is also an international for his country, with 45 caps and 12 goals to his name.

"Currently competing with Ghana at the African Cup of Nations, Wakaso will join the Granada CF squad upon completion of this tournament."

Wakaso joined Panathinaikos on a three-year deal from Russian club Rubin Kazan in summer last year, scoring on his league debut - a 3-0 away win over Levadiakos.

The 26-year-old makes a return to La Liga after earlier stints with Las Palmas, Villarreal and Espanyol, having also played for lower division club Elche between 2008 and 2011.

He was also once on the books of Scottish giants Celtic and Ashanti Gold in Ghana.
