The Ghanaian is hoping to help El Grana beat the relegation scare this season

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is delighted to have scored his debut goal for new club Granada who defeated Deportivo Alaves 2-1 on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old joined the Spanish side from Panathinaikos in January until end of the season after an impressive performance with the Black Stars at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

He opened the scoring for Granada by the 38th minute before Isaac Cuenca added another goal eight minutes later while Victor Camarasa netted a consolation on 57th minute for the visitors.

“I am very much delighted to have scored my first goal for Granada in La Liga. I must say that my bigger delight is in the fact that we took all three points on the day,” Wakaso told Citi FM.

“Allah has been kind to me. I have been able to stay fit to give out my best on the field all the time which is very important to every footballer.

“I am hoping that this will be the first of many goals to come my way since I aim at helping the club to beat the relegation scare this season,” he added.

The win moves Granada one place up, to 18th position, two points below safety. They will travel to face Leganes on Saturday.
