Fans turned out in the thousands to the Plaza de Cibeles to welcome Los Blancos back to Spain after Saturday's win against Juventus

Champions League winners Real Madrid were in party mood on Sunday as they arrived home to a heroes' welcome at the Santiago Bernabeu and Cristiano Ronaldo was at the centre of it all as Zinedine Zidane's men celebrated with the fans.

After hitting two goals in Madrid's 4-1 final win over Juventus, Ronaldo was announced as the "best player in the world" with fans chanting his name as he made his first appearance at the Bernabeu since helping the Liga champions to their record 12th European Cup title.

Earlier in the day, thousands of supporters flocked to the Plaza de Cibeles in the city to welcome the club home after Los Blancos topped Juventus in Cardiff.

The title is the second consecutive Champions League triumph for Madrid, who became the first team to win the trophy in two consecutive years under the current format of the competition.

Ronaldo shared his view of the adoring masses from the top of Madrid's open-top bus, as he and his team-mates paraded the trophy through the streets of Madrid.
