The former Manchester City and Juventus striker has forged a reputation as a fearsome goalscorer, but he got this effort against Racing horribly wrong

Carlos Tevez is a man with more than 250 career goals to his name.

He has graced the very top of the game, turning out for the likes of Boca Juniors, Corinthians, Manchester United, Juventus and Manchester City.

The burly frontman also has 76 caps for Argentina and has represented his country at two World Cup finals.

He is, unquestionably, one of the finest forwards in world football and a top-level performer with a good few years ahead of him yet.

Sometimes, though, even the best in the business endure an off day, as Tevez proved with this terrible miss during Boca’s clash with Racing over the weekend.

He did make amends by going on to score his side’s fourth in a 4-2 win but is the kind of character that will be kicking himself for not ending up with more to show for his efforts.

It may be that there are not too many more opportunities for him to add to his tally in Boca colours either, with Shanghai Shenhua president Wu Xiaohui revealing that his side are in talks regarding a deal to take Tevez to China amid reports he will be offered a €40 million a year deal.

"We have done a lot of work and it's safe to say that there has been a definite breakthrough in the negotiations," Wu told Shenhua News.

"But for a variety of reasons, we have not nailed down the deal.

"Their club have problems that are still yet to be solved and I will spare you the details.

"We will continue to put greater effort into this and strive to give our supporters a pleasant surprise as early as possible."
