VIDEO: Dele Alli sent off for shocking tackle in Tottenham's clash with Gent

The England midfielder lunged over the top of the ball and made contact with Brecht Dejaegere's knee in the first half of the Europa League tie

Dele Alli has been sent off for a wild tackle on Brecht Dejaegere in the first half of Tottenham's Europa League last-32 second leg against Gent.

It's official: Ranieri sacked by Leicester

With the score at 1-1 and his team trailing by a goal on aggregate, the England midfielder lunged for a loose ball but instead connected with his opponent's knee.

While the challenge did not look to be premeditated, Alli had moments earlier been complaining of a foul by another Gent player before getting back to his feet.

Spurs took the lead through Christian Eriksen before a Harry Kane own goal brought Gent back level in the Thursday night match at Wembley.
