IWOBI INSPIRES GUNNERS TO VICTORY
Arsenal crashing out of the FA Cup to Nottingham Forest and then losing at Bournemouth in the league, added to Alexis Sanchez’s imminent move to Manchester United was enough distraction for Arsene Wenger as the Gunners faced Crystal Palace on Saturday.
It was never going to be easy as the Eagles have started 2018 positively but the north Londoners claimed derby honours with a 4-1 win, Alex Iwobi scoring the third goal and his second of this season.
The young Nigerian has been under criticism for his prior poor performances and attitude, however, Saturday’s showing will shut the critics up a bit.
RED DEVILS DIG DEEP AT BURNLEY
Manchester United have seen a revived form of late in the Premier League but faced a difficult task when travelling to take on Burnley on Saturday. Turf Moor has been known to be a tough ground to churn out wins and it was going that way until Anthony Martial popped up in the 54th minute to give the Red Devils the lead.
That would be the only goal action of the game with Jose Mourinho’s side maintaining second spot on the log.
LAMBERT OFF TO A WINNING START
Stoke City parted way with Mark Hughes after the club found itself struggling around relegation waters. In came Paul Lambert and the former Aston Villa boss took charge of his first game against newly-promoted Huddersfield Town.

AGUERO WITH ANOTHER PERFECT HAT-TRICK
Current Premier League leaders Manchester City hosted Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and were expected to win.

He also became the first player to a score a perfect hat-trick in the Premier League since he himself did it against the same opponent in October 2015.
REAL MADRID IN SEVENTH HEAVEN
Things haven’t been going smoothly recently for Real Madrid as they’ve struggled to get results which put coach Zinedine Zidane under a lot of pressure.
They, however, had things easy on Sunday when they hosted Deportivo La Coruna, claiming a massive 7-1 win with Nacho Fernandez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale all bagging braces and Luka Modric with a solo.
It’s the perfect result to inject some confidence back into the team.
FLYING ANTELOPES FINALLY OFF THE MARK
Despite the heavy investment that saw Enugu Rangers recruit coach Gbenga Ogunbote and 18 new players, the 2016 Nigerian Professional Football League champions started the 2018 season on a bad note, losing to Akwa United and Lobi Stars.
Pressure was already mounting and talks of another potential relegation battle. The Flying Antelopes, however, went to newly-promoted Heartland FC, sealing a 1-0 victory.
The result was definitely needed as it will cool nerves a bit.
