Veselin Jelusic: Bloemfontein Celtic have a 50-50 chance to win the Telkom Knockout

Jelusic will be in charge of his first cup final in South Africa and he wants to make it count

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Veselin Jelusic believes they stand a 50-50 chance to walk away with the 2017 Telkom Knockout against Bidvest Wits on Saturday at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

“At the moment they don’t have the league results that they would like to achieved, but it doesn’t mean anything. So, this is a big challenge for us‚ and I would say our chances are 50/50," Jelusic told the media.

Celtic will be playing in their first cup final since 2012 and the Serbian looks to use his experience around the continent to guide Siwelele past the Students.

“To play in a cup final is a motivation for all of us. This is my first season [in South Africa] but I have a lot of experience in official competitions," he added.

“I have worked as coach of Angola and Botswana and during those times I had some chances to meet South African national teams in different competitions.

“Honestly‚ the challenge that we have faced here is nothing new to me," Jelusic said.

Having acquired good players such as Ruggert Nyundu, Ndumiso Mabena, Lucky Baloyi and Jacky Motshegwa, Siwelele are banking on the qualities of their astute players.

“We are counting on the motivation and also the qualities of our players and some experience that we have regarding competitive games and important games. Our team knows how to play for a result," Jelusic concluded.
