Coach Benjamin Nyangweso says the boys went an extra mile to beat Al Hilal in post-match penalties

Ulinzi Stars head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has registered his happiness with the manner in which his charges played against Libyan Premier League side Al Hilal Benghazi on Saturday.

They had a 1-0 deficit going into the Caf Confederation Cup return leg but Nyangweso was confident that the boys were to emerge winners.

He had trained them well prior to the match although he admits he never concentered much on penalties, a ground on which he lauds the boys for making him and the country proud after overcoming the North Africans in post-match shootouts following Samuel Onyango's aggregate equalizer.

“In training we didn’t focus too much on penalties because I believed that we would score more than two goals and proceed to the next stage. I just told the boys to relax and concentrate on the task at hand and although they lost several chances, I am happy that they frustrated the opponent,” he told kpl.co.ke.

The Soldiers will now meet Egyptian giants Smouha in the tourney’s first round.
