Ulinzi Stars have played two pre-season friendly matches and their head coach Benjamin Nyangweso is already a happy man.
The Soldiers were at the Coast on Sunday against Bandari FC where they registered a 1-1 draw and impressed the coach. A week ago, they had beaten Muhoroni Youth 2-0 at Afraha Stadium in their first pre-season friendly encounter.
“Compared to the first friendly against Muhoroni which we won 2-0, this was better. We played well, were more organized and the fitness levels of the players has greatly improved. There is much we need to do though to sharpen before our first game of the season.”
“Tactically there are a few areas we want to work on but overall, the players have made huge strides in improving. We are on the right track,” he told the club’s official website.
They are planning to conduct another friendly match, this time against a Nairobi based team with eyes on Mathare United. “We are talking to Mathare United to see a possibility of playing one friendly match in Nairobi but we are yet to confirm the details. It will be good to play against a team such as them.”
Ulinzi Stars will represent Kenya in Caf Confederation Cup tournament starting with the match against Libyan Premier League giants Al Hilal Benghazi.
