Moroccan football fans were given reason to celebrate on Sunday evening as the Atlas Lions claimed their first African Nations Championship crown after a 4-0 victory over Nigeria.
The Super Eagles struggled to establish themselves in the game and were made to pay for their loss of concentration.
Zakaria Hadraf’s double and goals from Walid El Karti and Ayoub El Kaabi handed the north Africans victory in Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca.
We have taken a look at some of the tweets on Twitter...
In the beginning, no one gave these boys a chance, but against all odds, they finished 2nd. Take a bow gallant @NGSuperEagles 😍😍😍 pic.twitter.com/qvjzDzQX5i — Mutiu Adepoju (@MutiuAdepoju8) February 4, 2018
I would pick Morocco as a team that could cause an upset at the World Cup...
And in a sign of their strength in depth, they’ve just won CHAN - the African international tournament for domestic based players.

Salisu Yusuf score card:
2017 WAFU Cup of Nations final:
Ghana 4-0 Nigeria.
2018 African Nations Championship final:
Morocco 4-0 Nigeria.
Salisu should take full responsibility for this embarrassment. Starting line-up decisions were wrong, you don't change a winning team! — Adepoju Tobi Samuel (@OgaNlaMedia) February 4, 2018
Superb 3 months for Morocco. WC qualification, Wydad win CL, now CHAN champions. And, of course, I also got married there! Golden era, this. — Salim Masoud Said (@salimosaid) February 4, 2018
4 - The Super Eagles have now conceded 4+ goals in each of their last 2 finals (today inclusive). 😭😢😡
