Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC beat Thika United 2-1 in a friendly match played on Friday at Thika Sub-county Stadium.

The win was however not an easy one for the visitors having struggled the entire first half, a period during which Sammy Meja put the James Nandwa coached side (Thika United) ahead from the spot. However, Tusker came from the tunnel more energized, Ekaliani Ndolo leveling the matters in the 55th minute.

What followed thereafter was a real battle which subjected Tusker to a long wait before their new signing from Bandari Victor Ndinya scored a winner in the 90th minute.

This was Tusker’s fifth friendly match ahead of league kick-off. They had played against Muhoroni Youth, Palos FC, Vihiga United and Ugandan Premier League side Bul FC.

On the other hand, Thika United had won all their friendly matches before the defeat; the first win was 3-0 against Vapour FC then 2-1 against Gor Mahia. They will play against the newly promoted side KCB on Saturday at Camp Toyoyo ground as from 11:00am.
