Super League strugglers Melaka United have announced the signing of a new foreign defender, in the mid-season transfer window.

The player is Macedonian centre back Jasmin Mecinović, who is 26 years of age and reportedly 1.94 meter tall.

He last played for FK Pelister, and has played mainly in his native Macedonia, such as with FK Makedonija Gjorče Petrov, Sogndal and Renova.

With Mecinović's arrival, the Mousedeers are expected to cut their Ghanian centre back, Godwin Antwi loose to make way for him. The former Liverpool player's performance has been under criticism ever since he arrived in the pre-season, with the 10th-placed side having conceded 25 goals in the league so far, the current worst defending record that is shared with Pulau Pinang and PKNS FC.

In fact, the 2016 Premier League champions are also rumoured to be considering dropping their strikers Ilija Spasojević and Sergio Agüero.
