Dumped out of the Australian Open, tennis’ first major tournament of the season, it might be time for Novak Djokovic to consider a career change.
The Serb lost his world number one ranking to Andy Murray at the end of 2016 and is destined to fall further behind the Scot after being dumped out of the competition in Melbourne by Denis Istomin, who is not considered one of the best 100 players in the game.
Djokovic, though, might consider going into football, having impressed on the field before. And, unlike Usain Bolt, he actually looks quite a handy player.
In 2012, he played a charity friendly with Brazilian and global legends at the Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange before a fixture between Fluminense and Cruzeiro. And he didn’t do too badly for himself at all, finding the net and creating another goal as the footage shows.
Brazil great Zico even commented: "Brazil has always had football magicians. I’m happy some of them are here today. I had played with [ex-tennis number one] Gustavo Kuerten before, he’s very good at football. But Djokovic is also good,"
Maybe it’s time to hang up his racket and lace up his boots after all?
