Three MISC-MIFA players have been arrested on the suspicion of match-fixing, reported Bernama on Thursday.

According to the national news agency, the trio is composed of two local players aged 26 and 27 each, and a foreign player aged 29 years old.

The Bernama report explained that they were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after they gave their statements on Wednesday, for accepting bribes amounting to between RM 10,000 and RM30,000.

"Investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to have been involved in the activity for the past few years. They are believed to have collected hundreds of thousands of ringgit from match-fixing," an insider told Bernama.

MISC-MIFA head coach Jacob Joseph has repeatedly expressed his exasperation at his charges' inexplicably inconsistent perfomance in the Premier League this season.

They are a promotion side, having won the 2016 FAM Cup last season, and are currently just one spot above the relegation zone, in tenth spot. They are scheduled to play PKNP FC in a league match at home on Friday.

Interestingly, multiple sources have told Goal that even the highest-paid foreign player at the side is paid no more than RM 8,000 in salary per month, a figure much lower than what is normally received by foreign players in the country, and even a lot of local stars.

Even more strangely, the club's players are also rumoured to be paid in cash by hand by the club's administration.
