The Bafana attacking midfielder hopes that his impressive form will soon earn him a move abroad

Themba Zwane was one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ standout players during the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

The 27-year-old midfielder's impressive displays also saw him become a more prominent feature in the national team setup and most recently he was instrumental in Bafana Bafana’s sensational victory against Nigeria, where he was denied twice by the woodwork.

Despite Zwane approaching the peak of his powers, he continues to work hard as he remains hopeful of making a move abroad as the Masandawana winger looks to emulate his inspiration, the Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard.

“My dream is to earn a move abroad. I want to play in one of the best leagues of this world,” Zwane told the Sunday Independent.

“Eden Hazard (Chelsea FC midfielder) is one of the players who inspires me to continue working on my game. I always want to get better, always. That’s why I always leave it all out on the pitch.

“It doesn’t matter whether I’m playing for Bafana or my home team Sundowns. I always push to give it my best. That’s why I was so disappointed when I struck the woodwork,” Zwane added.

Meanwhile, the Brazilians resume their Caf Champions League campaign on Wednesday night against Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Zwane believes it is important for the defending champions to bounce back in the Tunisian capital.

“We are the defending champions and it’s very important that we go there with plenty of fight and come back with a win,” Zwane said.

“We know that it’s not going to be easy, as we’ll be playing away from home, but we also know that it’s possible.

“It’s better to get out of this position we find ourselves in now, rather than wait to do it in our remaining two games. The sooner we start with it, the better,” Zwane concluded.
