The Red Devils have reached an agreement with the highly-rated midfielder and have already handed him a debut as he looks to make his mark in England

Manchester United have confirmed that highly-rated midfielder Aliou Traore has joined the club on a permanent basis.

Goal revealed in June that an agreement had been reached for the France U17 international, with interest from Juventus and Manchester City fended off to secure a much sought-after talent.

Traore is now part of the Red Devils’ ranks and has already made his debut for the club.

The 16-year-old made his United bow in a 3-2 defeat to Wolves on Saturday in the U18 Premier League Cup.

"Traore is a boy we've been looking at for a while," Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna told MUTV.

"He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time.

"He's a nice man and his English is improving. He's settling in well with the boys and has taken to the club really well."

Traore was previously on the books of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, but left the club amid fears over a lack of possible opportunities at senior level.

He clearly feels those doors will open for him at Old Trafford, with United prepared to give academy graduates a chance if they prove deserving of recognition.

It could be that Traore gets the opportunity to line up alongside fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba at some stage in the future.

Having been described by McKenna as a “really powerful midfielder” and “very strong technically”, he appears to be a player in the Pogba mould.

United will be hoping to further unlock that potential and help Traore to tread a similar path to an illustrious countryman.

For now, though, his focus is very much locked on the youth ranks.

He is set to turn 17 in January and should come into contention for United’s FA Youth Cup campaign, with the Red Devils set to face Derby at the third round stage of that competition on December 13.
