The day Ronaldo threw Messi to the floor and went crazy

The Real Madrid star lost his cool after fouling his adversary during a Super Copa Clasico, which Barcelona went onto win 3-2

Cristiano Ronaldo was mad. He leaned over slightly and started to beat his right shoulder: one, two, three, four, five, six. From his point of view there was absolutely no doubt: while there was contact, it did not merit a foul.

From the floor, meanwhile, Lionel Messi looked round and appeared to enjoy the situation. From the moment he picked up the ball and started motoring, four Real Madrid players closed him down. But his acceleration was too much for Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, Raul Albiol - and Ronaldo.

Ronaldo slowing down but still incredible

The Portuguese forward could not stand the decision handed down by referee Carlos Clos Gomez and lost it. The video of that day shows clearly how he hit the Argentine not just with his body, but also with a swing of his lethal boot.

The Spanish Super Copa of 2012 was the stage for that conflict. Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 with goals from Pedro, Messi and Xavi. In the second leg, however, the story was different. The Merengue triumphed 2-1 and took the title on away goals. But fans still recall that moment Ronaldo took Messi down, and was not at all happy to be called up on it.
