SuperSport United defender Onismor Bhasera was involved in a horrific accident on his way back to South Africa.
The left-back had been on duty with the Zimbabwean national team at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Gabon.
Bhasera’s manager Gibson Mahachi confirmed the incident.
“Yes, I can confirm he was involved in a road accident. He hit a pothole and lost control of the vehicle but he is fine,” Mahachi told the Zimbabwean Herald .
“Strangely, he couldn’t get help until after seven hours. I don’t know what was happening but there is really no need to panic, he is not in any danger," he said.
“He has gone to the doctor to be examined to see if there are any injuries. But I think that part of the road is bad because whilst he was still there with the police, they witnessed another accident," Mahachi concluded.
Goal did contact SuperSport media officer Brian Moshoeshoe, however, he was unable to comment on the player’s well-being as he had not spoken to Bhasera or the team doctor.
The full-back played all three of his national team's fixtures at the Afcon, before they were eliminated and he will now return to domestic action with Matsatsantsa.
Stuart Baxter’s men are joint first on the PSL log and they will resume their campaign against Golden Arrows on February 8.
