According to reports, Masandawana have been beaten to the signature of Ugandan starlet Okello by Ajax Amsterdam

Reports emerged a few weeks ago that Mamelodi Sundowns were interested in bringing Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) wonder-kid Allan Okello to the club.

Coach Pitso Mosimane was highly impressed with the 17-year-old’s exploits against Sundowns in the Caf Champions League preliminary rounds, and subsequently tried to convince the youngster to move to Chloorkop.

However, according to the latest reports, Masandawana have lost out in the race for the attacker’s services as he has chosen to join Ajax Amsterdam instead.

According to a source close to Phakaaathi, Okello’s representatives did not take too kindly to Mosimane’s offer of roping the player into their MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.

“The deal was never going to happen because Mosimane let it slip that he would take Okello to the juniors,” the source said.

“Sundowns’ development is not known for producing any remarkable players and that was a major turn off for his managers. Okello is seen as the best thing to come out of Uganda in recent years and everyone wants him to become the best,” the source added.

“He is now going to Ajax Amsterdam and they believe he will be properly developed into a fine player there. As part of the deal, his team KCCA have been invited to a tour in Holland where they will play four matches,” the source concluded.
