The Uruguayan scored twice while Lionel Messi, Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal were also on the scoresheet as the Blaugrana eased to a comfortable victory

The Head and Shoulders Super Player Luis Suarez scored twice at the end of a week to remember and Lionel Messi was also on target as Barcelona resoundingly returned to winning ways in La Liga by battering Las Palmas 5-0.

Uruguay forward Suarez scored his 100th Barca goal in Wednesday's 3-1 Copa del Rey victory over Athletic Bilbao and he broke the deadlock here during a first half dominated by the home side at Camp Nou.

Suarez grabbed his second with a cool finish five minutes later before Arda Turan followed up on the rebound from the Uruguayan's saved effort to make it three goals in seven second-half minutes.

Las Palmas were caught cold in the 14th minute, though. Gomes sprung the offside trap on the right before squaring to Suarez, who swept the ball home first time from eight yards.

It was soon 3-0 when Rafinha picked out Suarez, who opened up his body and sent a low effort into the far corner from the left of the box.

The Uruguayan striker now has 102 goals for the Catalan club in just 121 appearances.

Barca have not always lived up to their own impeccable standards this term, but they were at their swashbuckling best on this occasion and head coach Luis Enrique was particularly thrilled with their defensive work.

"What I am most happy with is the team's performance without the ball," Luis Enrique said at the post-match news conference.

"Against Las Palmas if you do not press well they generate problems. When recovering the ball at the beginning of the game we generated chances on goal.

"The defensive work has been wonderful. One of the best performances since I'm here. The reading [of the game] was excellent on a defensive level."

Next up: a tough trip to Anoeta in the Copa del Rey on Thursday. That is an away match that always seems to be difficult for the Blaugrana, but with players rested, confidence boosted and the second string performing, Barca are in good shape ahead of the cup clash.
