Stephane Bahoken was on target as Strasbourg pulled off a shocking 3-2 win over Lyon in Saturday’s league meeting to retain their French Ligue 1 status for next season.
The dramatic victory saw them move four points clear of 18th-placed Toulouse with just a league game remaining in the 2017-18 campaign.
Bahoken broke the deadlock at the Stade de la Meinau to put the hosts ahead in the 22nd minute.
The 25-year-old’s effort – his seventh goal in the Ligue 1 this campaign – stood as the only difference between both teams in the opening 45 minutes.
However, after the restart, Liverpool target Nabil Fekir equalised from the penalty spot with Houssem Aouar adding a second to put Lyon in control of the game.
But Thierry Laurey’s side turned the tide around to secure their safety within few minutes in the closing stages.
Nuno Da Costa drew Le Racing levelled in the 88th minute before Dimitri Lienard's stunning free-kick sealed maxiumum points for the hosts at the death of the encounter.
The victory ended Strasbourg's winless run of 11 league games as they moved to the 16th spot in the table with 38 points 37 matches.
They visit Nantes for their last league game of the season on May 19.
