Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes talks about the Ghanaian's early impact

Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes is happy with Latif Blessing's rather quick adaptation to life in the United States.

The 20-year-old joined KC from local side Liberty Professionals in January after which he had a brief loan spell with lower division outfit Swope Park Rangers.

His return to Children's Mercy Park has earned unanimous acclaim following a run of outstanding performances.

“I’d say him [Blessing], Ilie Sanchez, Gerso Fernandes, all of the guys we brought in, their acclimation has been almost seamless to the team," Vermes said, as reported by his club's official website.

"There’s one thing about soccer, they’re very good players, they’ve got great attitudes but they’re great people.

"The fact that they fit in so well and so quickly, not just on the field but off the field -- it has a lot to do with off the field -- they’ve all exceeded our expectations from the point of view of how fast they’ve simulated to the team."

On Saturday, Blessing emerged the hero as his goal ensured a 3-2 victory over Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer.

The strike is his third of the topflight and fifth in all competitions.

"I also thought that Latif [Blessing] was very dangerous in the first half," Vermes opined.

"He stretched the defence a lot and they weren’t ready for it.

"But being able to play through a focal point up front was a big piece of tonight’s success.”

Before leaving Ghana for the US, Blessing was adjudged Best Player of the local Premier League.
