The American club are believed to have made an offer for the South Africa international during the January Transfer Window

Brondby IF central midfielder Lebogang Phiri has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit New York City FC.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Brondby in the Danish Alka Superliga this season - making 28 league appearances and netting once in the process.

Danish publication, BT, has revealed that Phiri will be leaving Brondby for City during the upcoming Transfer Window on their official website.

"Lebogang Phiri is lost for Brondby. According to BT information he switches to summer New York City FC," statement read.

"BT understands that Phiri has said yes to New York City FC, as he turns to, when his contract with Brondby expires this summer," another statement explained.

"BT could back in January share your interest from the American MLS club, which at the time offered 4.5 million kroner for Phiri but Brøndby chose to reject the offer," a statement concluded.

Phiri joined Brondby from Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bidvest Wits at the beginning of 2013. He has since made over 100 appearances for Drengene Fra Vestegnen.

The talented player reportedly turned down a new contract at Drengene Fra Vestegnen and he is likely to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the current season.
