Shock as Kenyan football family losses former Harambee Stars player

Kenya football fraternity is mourning the death of former Kenya international footballer Simon Gundi .

Close family members have confirmed to Goal that Gundi passed away on Wednesday at his Mtwapa home after a short period of illness.

Fans air concerns over league kick-off delay

Gundi enjoyed successful stints as a defender with Kenya national soccer team Harambee Stars and Kenya Breweries, now known as Tusker during his heydays. He played for Harambee Stars under the tutelage of the late coach Jonathan Niva.

His demise comes barely five months after the death of legendary goalkeeper and Coach James Siang'a.
