Solinas could be heading to Orlando Pirates

The Buccaneers are in the market for a permanent coach, and Solinas, who was previously linked with the Soweto giants, could be their next head coach

Giovanni Solinas is set to part ways with Free State Stars, and Goal has gathered that he could be heading to Orlando Pirates

The Italian mentor returned to South Africa for a second spell with Ea Lla Koto, but reports suggest that he has again asked to be relieved of his duties.

Solinas reportedly went for an interview at Mayfair at the end of last season before going back to Italy.

However, he never got the job as Pirates appointed Muhsin Ertugral, who would later resign as their head coach.

The Buccaneers confirmed two weeks ago that they were struggling to find the right man for the coaching job, saying that all their targets were 'engaged'.

But with Solinas soon to be a free man, the Sea Robbers could well jump at the opportunity to sign him.

Augusto Palacios is still in charge of the team on an interim basis, and while he took his players through their paces this week, chances of him making way for another coach are still huge.

The Peruvian-born mentor was very critical of his players prior to the mid-season break, and accused the majority of them of not taking their careers seriously.

Bucs administrative officer Floyd Mbele said at the time that the club would interrogate Palacios' technical report before taking further steps.
