Sofapaka warm up for KPL clash with friendly win

Ugandan striker Umaru Kasumba was on target as Batoto ba Mungu cruised past Nairobi City Stars in a build up

Umaru Kasumba was on target for the second consecutive match as Sofapaka beat Nairobi City Stars in a friendly.

The Ugandan, who promised to end his long drought for Batoto ba Mungu in their GOtv Shield match against Kariobangi Sharks last Sunday, found his sixth goal in a 2-1 win at Eastleigh grounds on Wednesday.

Kasumba scored four goals in his debut for Sofapaka in a GOtv match last June but the triumphant entry into Kenyan football was followed by a short dry spell, something that was causing ripples within Sofapaka rank until he broke his duck last weekend and made it two goals in two matches just three days later.

Ali Feni scored Sofapaka’s second goal before the break, with Victor Ochieng pulling a consolation for City Stars in the second half. Sofapaka used the match as a warm up for the weekend’s Kenyan Premier League match against Muhoroni Youth.

Sofapaka are sixth on the log with 24 points from 16 matches.

Sofapaka XI: Juma Reuben (GK), Willis Ouma, Rodgers Aloro, Jonathan Mugabi, Humphrey Okoti, Hillary Echesa (captain), Hansel Ochieng, Bernard Mang'oli, Umaru Kasumba, Ali Feni, Ezekiel Okare.
