The Porcupine Warriors former midfielder claims the club's current players are more interested in social media than winning games

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Kwabena Dodzie has launched a scathing attack at the club’s players, claiming that their ‘obsession’ for Facebook and WhatsApp is affecting the team’s performance in Ghana Premier League.

The Kumasi giants have gone four games without a win, leaving them in third position behind Wafa, which led to the recent dismissal of Croatian coach Zdravko Lugarusic.

“Most of Kotoko's current first team players need serious orientation. They are interested in social media more than playing,” Dodzie told Abusua FM.

“Maybe they are not aware of the kind of club they are playing at and the expectations of the supporters. They are not strong both spiritually and physically.

“During our time, players had to do their personal training when you are less busy to improve on performance ahead of matchdays. We were very proud to wear Kotoko jersey and represent a lot of people that is why we were able to win many titles and individual honours.

“I don’t see the eagerness and the winning mentality these days that is why the club is having problems in the Ghana Premier League,” he added.

Kotoko have appointed Godwin Ablordey as caretaker coach and will travel to Wa to play title holders Wa All Stars at the Malik Jabir Park on Sunday.
