In terrible weather conditions in Turkey last week, Sevilla recorded an important 2-1 win leaving them in pole position to reach the group stages of the Champions League.
Certainly, their home form will give them plenty of confidence heading into the second-leg of their play-off with Istanbul Basakeshir - and Sevilla lose precious few games at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.
Last season, only Barcelona and Juventus managed a win away at Sevilla and the Andalusians know that avoiding defeat will be enough to qualify for the continent’s premier club competition. SportPesa offer a home win at 10/23 (1.43) while the Turkish side can be backed at 6/1 (7.00) and the draw is offered at 15/4 (4.75) .
The weekend saw Sevilla begin their La Liga campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Espanyol although manager Eduardo Berizzo rested players ahead of the second-leg with Basakeshir.
The hosts have enough quality about them to claim a win on Tuesday night and summer signings Jesus Navas, Nolito and Luis Muriel look like improving the side in the final third.
Basakeshir also rested players at the weekend going down to a 3-1 defeat at lowly Karabukspor and last season the Istanbul outfit were considerably weaker on the road than they were at home.
Sevilla can be backed at 1/2 (1.50) to score over 1.5 goals but perhaps more appealing is the price of evens (2.00) to win by two goals or more. The Spanish side are superior and boast a great deal more experience at this level than their Turkish opponents who are novices, and backing Sevilla to qualify with a comfortable win seems like a solid selection.
That last option looks to also be a wise investment with nine of Sevilla’s last 12 home wins in all competitions seeing over 2.5 goals and if we think the hosts are likely to win once more, this is a shrewd way to back a home win.
