After his Kelantan side were defeated 1-0 by Selangor in their Super League match on Saturday, the Red Warriors head coach Zahasmi Ismail remarked that the outcome could have been different, had his strikers been more clinical in the match.
In the match that was held at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium, Amri Yahyah opened the scoring in the 20th minute. The visitors then spent the remainder of the match trying to stage a comeback, but Selangor goalkeeper Khairul Azhan Khalid denied many of their tries.
Earlier this week, Kelantan had defeated second-placed Kedah 3-1 in their Malaysia Cup group match.
"We played just as well as we did against Kedah, the only difference tonight is our forwards.
"In Kota Bharu we scored three so everything seemed fine. But we couldn't find even one goal tonight, and that means nothing when we lose," he pointed out.
He too explained that his men played well, and the result went the Red Giants' way as they were luckier.
"This is football and I have to accept the outcome. We made one mistake and the opponents were able to capitalise on it (to score).
"To me, we performed well tonight, but maybe Selangor were luckier. We played a fast-paced game and dominated in the second half, but this is football," said Zahasmi in the post-match press conference.
Following the match, Kelantan dropped to ninth in the standings, while Selangor moved back up to fourth place.
