Seemingly unstoppable Manchester clubs 33/1 to avoid Premier League defeat until Derby Day

Both City and United have made fantastic starts to the season, but can Jose Mourinho's side and Pep Guardiola's men remain unbeaten until December?

Manchester City and Manchester United have started the Premier League season so identically that they can only be split by the alphabet.

As C comes before U in our organised list of characters, it is the blue half of the city who currently sit atop the table, but both sides have won four and drawn one of their five games, each scoring 16 times and conceding just twice.

The pair have looked fairly unstoppable thus far, and dabblebet is offering a whopping 33/1 (34.0) that both remain unbeaten until the Manchester derby, currently scheduled for December 9th.

It is certainly not out of the question that two teams would avoid defeat until the 16th matchday of the season – a feat accomplished by Liverpool and Arsenal in 2007/08 – but you can also back either team to lose first.

Jose Mourinho’s men are quoted at 4/7 (1.57) to succumb first, which is not a surprise given their run of challenging fixtures in the coming weeks.

Their first real test, arguably of the season, comes on October 14th when they travel to Anfield to face bitter rivals Liverpool, before hosting Spurs two weeks later and then going to the capital to play Chelsea.

The week before the Manchester derby, the Red Devils are in London once again for their match against Arsenal, but the Gunners will need to drastically improve if they are to take anything from that game.

As for the Citizens, who are 5/4 (2.25) to be defeated in the Premier League before their rivals, a tough trial awaits for them at the end of September in the shape of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

On paper, it is then almost plain sailing for Pep Guardiola’s side, as they face the likes of Stoke and Burnley before welcoming Arsenal to Manchester in their last arguably tough fixture before the derby.
