The former Bordeaux manager has met with Ghana FA committee for an interview in view of securing the Black Stars job

Former France international Willy Sagnol on Friday had a job interview with the Ghana Football Association six-man committee tasked with vetting candidates for the Black Stars vacant job.

Israeli coach Avram Grant left the post in February after seeing out a 26-month deal during which he led the team to two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

More than 90 coaches submitted CVs for the job, according to reports, with a shortlist of a handful now available for interview.

Sagnol, who previously played for German giants Bayern Munich and French side Monaco, was reported to be in advanced talks with Ghanaian officials for the job in February but the rumours were refuted.

Cameroon coach Hugo Broos from Belgium and Kwesi Appiah, the only Ghanaian on the shortlist, were also interviewed on Friday but via Skype, according to reports.

Appiah, who coached the Black Stars between 2012 and 2014, appears to be a top favourite for the job, with a number of local personalities calling for his return to the outfit.

Sagnol has been without a job since parting ways with Bordeaux in March last year. During his playing days, he won five Bundesliga titles, one Champions League title with Bayern as well as two Confederations Cup titles in 2001 and 2003 with France.
